President Obama

Today we got together with all of our kindergarten friends to listen to President Obama talk to us about how to be successful in school. We were very good listeners! Mr. Michaels asked us what we could do to be successful at Cochran. We all had lots of wonderful answers! We said we could "listen to our teachers", "do our best", "work hard", "follow the rules", and lots of other great ideas!! The teachers could definitely tell that these kindergarteners had listened to our president and understood his message.

The Three Billy Goats Gruff

This week we have started our fairy tale unit. Our first fairy tale is the Three Billy Goats Gruff. The children came up with several examples of things that are big medium and small. We love the part when the goats go "Trip Trap, Trip Trap, Trip Trap" over the bridge. That troll is funny when he yells "Be off with you!!"Hopefully after internalizing this story we will be ready to act it out with masks on Friday.

We had our first fire drill yesterday while we were at the library (so much for the library being a quiet place!!) We did a great job! Everyone stayed calm and we all got out quickly and quietly! We practiced our own fire drill today from our classroom so we will know where to go and what to do when we have our next one.

Walk! Walk! Walk!

Hello Everyone!  I can't believe that September is almost over!! The days are flying by so quickly!

We have been working so hard! I'm sure that your children are tired at the end of each day!

On Friday, we went on several walks. Before school we had our Cochran Walk @ School Day. Then for our math activity, we went on a number walk. We found lots of numbers all over our school! After lunch we went for a fitness walk and we found some more numbers around the outside of our school! It was a fun and beautiful day from beginning to end! We can't wait to do it all again on Friday, October 2,2009 for our Walk-a-thon!
